Yes to Recall means
Yes to Honesty & Integrity

We expect our TVUSD trustees to be honest and approach their job and the community with integrity. Komrosky has not met those expectations.

Campaign misrepresentation

Komrosky’s campaign rhetoric was filled with misrepresentation. He implied that:

  • CRT was taught in our local schools. (It is not taught in any K-12 public school and has never been taught in the TVUSD.)

  • Pornography is rampant in school curriculum. (Nobody wants pornography in our schools, and any parent who finds something offensive has the right to ask for an alternative assignment for their student.)

  • Parents have few rights. (On the contrary, parents have many rights that are guaranteed by California Education Code and TVUSD Board Policies. Komrosky has never acknowledged these rights or encouraged parents to use them.)

  • Teachers are leftist “groomers” and cannot be trusted. (With few exceptions, our teachers understand our students and our community. They are professional educators. Most parents here appreciate and trust their child’s teacher.)

Learning the job of trustee

We expect new trustees to learn their job before passing policies or making decisions. Many laws govern public schools; they are funded and regulated in specific ways that are unlike any other industry or field.

Komrosky did not attend initial training on how to be a school board member. He has never had a child in the TVUSD. He had never attended a TVUSD school board meeting or visited a TVUSD school site before being elected.

He did not understand his legal obligations as a board member under The Brown Act. He did not even know the basics of running a board meeting. But at their first meeting he, Wiersma, and Gonzalez elected Komrosky school board president anyway.

Being transparent

We expect trustees to be honest and transparent about what they’re trying to do. We expect them to take the time to consider the concerns of everyone in the community—parents, teachers/staff, students, residents—before making decisions.

As Board President, Komrosky has control over what goes on meeting agendas and where it appears. The Consent Calendar agenda section is supposed to be only for “routine” items that don’t need discussion, but he continually puts items there that obviously need discussion, for example:

  • Abruptly hiring a superintendent search firm without proper research and competitive bids

  • Declaring a new law firm as the district’s main counsel

  • Spending money so he can attend a conference designed for “urban” school districts, which TVUSD is not

We expect trustees to bring new policies or actions to a board meeting, listen to concerns, send them back for revision, and then act. But Komrosky put controversial policies on a board agenda and acted immediately on them, despite reasonable objections by the public and other trustees. These include:

  • CRT resolution

  • Firing Superintendent Dr. McClay

  • Resolution banning all “flags” except U.S. and California state flags

  • Parental notification policy regarding students who want to use a different name or pronouns at school

Solving real problems

A public school district trustee’s job is to focus on improving local education. We expect trustees to solve real problems in our Temecula schools, such as improving math scores, reducing bullying, increasing student safety at drop-off and pickup, and creating a respectful and supportive environment for all students to thrive.

Komrosky has solved nothing. He claims to have expanded parental rights, but he hasn’t; his parental notification policy cannot be implemented because it is contrary to state law. He claims to have fulfilled his campaign promises, but they were based on made-up “problems,” not the reality in Temecula public schools.

Did Komrosky fulfill his campaign promises, as he claims?

NO.

  • His CRT and parental notification policies have not been implemented, as they are subjects of legal action.

  • The K-5 social studies curriculum he disliked was adopted.

  • Books have not been removed from school libraries.

  • Existing policy was followed when a parent complained about an inappropriate play in drama class.

  • No changes have been made to cell towers or 5G exposure, which experts and local testing deem safe.

The only change Komrosky has made is to remove flags from classrooms.

Komrosky must go.

We deserve a trustee who is honest with the community and acts transparently.
